In addition to our structural hollow sections, we carry a broad range of other tubular products to suit multiple applications, including furniture manufacture, gas and steam transportation, and valve accessories to the gas and oil industries.

ERW Tube

Electro Resistance Welded (ERW) Tube is a product produced to fine tolerances. It has a welded seam, and is available in the following shapes:

Oval (flat-sided and elliptical)
Round
Rectangular
Square.

We hold stocks in both imperial and metric measurements in standard 6 metre lengths. Our precision cutting service is available to support one-off cut or multi-cut projects.

Standard gauges range from 10G (3mm) to 20G (1.0mm).

Gas/Steam Pipe (EN 10255 Steel Tube)

Formerly BS1387, this product assumes many guises, including ‘gas list’, ‘blue/red band’, ‘steam pipe/tube’ and ‘nominal bore tube’. Some manufacturers refer to it as ‘install’.

EN 10255 steel tube has many uses, and can be found in many pressure pipework systems across the United Kingdom. It is available in multiple forms, including:

Galvanised/Red Oxide finish
Plain end/screwed and socketed
Medium weight (‘blue band’) / heavy weight (‘red band’).

Our standard stock range starts at ¼” nominal bore and increases in increments through to 6” nominal bore.

To compliment this range of tube, we carry a very broad range of weldable, male/female screwed pipe fittings, including but not limited to:

Handrail (Galvanised)

Steam tube was previously used by fabricators to construct handrails and fences. Galvanised handrail has replaced it as a much more cost-effective material.

We carry galvanised handrail in standard 6.5 metre lengths which can be delivered in bundles, one-off lengths, or cut-to-size pieces.

Our three main stock sizes for handrail are:

33.7mm OD (B34 / 1” nominal bore)
42.4mm OD (C42 / 1.1/4” nominal bore)
48.3mm OD (D48 / 1.1/2” nominal bore).

These can be complemented with a broad range of handrail fittings. We partner with suppliers of the Interclamp range of fittings, which are usually available on next day delivery.

Seamless Tube

Seamless tubes are as defined – they do not have a welded seam. The tubing is manufactured through an extrusion process where the tube is drawn from a solid steel billet and extruded into a hollow form.

Seamless tube is widely used, mainly for the manufacture of water wall pipes, boiling water pipes, superheated steam pipes, superheated steam pipes for locomotive boilers, large and small smoke pipes, and arched brick pipes.

It is generally more expensive to produce due to the more complex manufacturing process. Welded pipe tends to be less expensive, as it is a more straightforward process. Seamless pipe is also more resistant to corrosion, and can withstand higher pressures.

We carry a legacy stock of seamless tube, and have access to multiple suppliers across the UK and Europe, which enables us to provide material in full lengths or cut to your requirements.
